Prenatal Journey
After finding out that you have another passenger on your bus the next step is to schedule your first appointment to check how far along you are, if you are like me you would have already known but this first visit it's still a very important one.
Choosing a Prenatal facility was easy for me because I already knew where I wanted to give birth from the moment I found out I was Pregnant, but if you are unfamiliar with your options you have to do some Google research or ask around " best referrals you can get is from people with experience"
Even though I knew where I wanted to have my prenatal checkups done I was new to the procedures and process to get started so I had to ask for help, my friend had just gone through her own experience a few years back. We went to the clinic and ask a few questions and I learn a few things from that first experience like you have to be between 8-16 weeks to start the clinic and at that time I was only 5 weeks but I was given a sheet of paper with everything I will need, as simple as that I had my first appointment set for November 13,2017.

The day came and I was nervous and excited, I had all my stuff ( towel, urine container, Identification and my last period date) I was ready to venture into this new mom life. All the excitement didn't stop me from being late as usual, I got #28 even though my appointment was 8am I had to wait because I was late, I sat there waiting for my name to call and when it did all my excitement died down ( waiting is a mood killer) plus I overheard other mother's talking about the different preventive injection they got and I was now scared ( I hate injections).
The first step was to get my pressure checked and after that, I had to go urinate in the container. The nurse test the urine and wrote the relevant information in a folder they gave me with my name on it, they moved on to the collection of personal details ( yes your pregnancy history or if you had any abortions) this is the time to ensure the document has all your health details so they can provide you with the correct treatment and care.
The next step was the full body check I thought they would do a vaginal check but the doctor didn't, he only did a belly and beast check and I was done for the first Prenatal visit. He also wrote his findings in my folder and told me my EDD was June 5th, 2017 and wrote me another appointment for the next month (4 weeks late).
For 28 weeks of my pregnancy I went every 4 weeks and went through the same process minus the personal details, they only did that once, after 28 weeks I started going every 3 weeks then 2 weeks until I started going every week.During the 39 weeks I did many different tests such as Sugar, HIV, STD, Iron test, Blood type test, Ultrasounds, and RCG some of this test was repeated 3 times during the 9 months (every 3 months).
It was a very eye-opening experience for me, the process was tedious and painful (injections) at times at the same time it was just pure bliss and joy (ultrasound).
Don't forget to share your experience in the comments or if you have questions I'm happy to answer them base on my experience.
